I am about to have a heart attack.

I just went to http://www.electoral-vote.com.

Current predicted outcome is 260 to 274.

One state. One single fucking state. Could throw this into the House of Representatives for decision.

Wouldn't even have to be a big state like Florida or Ohio. (Granted, that's where they're going to concentrate their efforts, because those two states can make or break a victory, not just a trip to the House.)

All the Dems would have to do is pavement-pound like crazy to get their people out to the polls, in one of the smaller borderline states.

West Virginia, for example. ::eyes [livejournal.com profile] taloon :: Or Arkansas.

I'd love to include Vermont, but that's currently listed as a dead heat, and thus not counted in either candidate's tally.

Hell, Nebraska could remotely affect the election if enough Dems get out there.

Damn my inability to vote for Kerry. ::sigh:: He's too wrong on too many issues. I'm trying to narrow down on a third-party candidate instead.

But God, would it ever be cool, from a political geek standpoint, to be one of the people responsible for having the House vote.

I'd forgotten about that. I ought to have my poli-sci geek credentials revoked for a week, for forgetting that.
