Internet! Forever....
Jan. 31st, 2012 10:18 pmTom's been gone for two days to DC for work; gets back tomorrow afternoon. I am spending my evenings post-Zodling bedtime doing minor cleaning, laundry, and totally re-enacting that beloved section of Hyperbole And A Half's arguably most famous cartoon. :D :D :D :D :D
A selection of my current reading:
http://www.occupypatriarchy.org/2012/01/31/trivial-issues/ (Guest post from another blogger; I recommend clicking through to the original blog bc there are explanatory hyperlinks that don't transfer through properly.)
http://themormonworker.wordpress.com/2012/01/24/an-injury-to-one-part-2/ (Haven't finished reading; discusses problems in Occupy Nashville and inclusiveness of feminism; and if you think misogyny, sexual assault, and general patriarchy-related ills in the Occupy movement are cause to dismiss the whole shebang or smugly extol how the Tea Party has no such issues - GET OFF MY BLOG, because you are so full of shit your eyes should be brown.)
http://susie-c.tumblr.com/ (Graphic journalist who has been covering Occupy Oakland, primarily as a freelancer. Her work may finally cause me to break down and get a tumblr.)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/us-news-blog/2012/jan/30/occupy-oakland-new-york-clashes (Article in two parts about two experiences at OO, one is Ms. Cagle.)

Post interrupted by massive screams echoing from Jack's room, the kind that cause a parent to try to levitate upstairs, rather than the kind that indicate mischief is afoot. Poor boy had wet jammies, a wet and soiled diaper, and a rock-hard stomach, and was writhing and thrashing in pain across his mattress and the floor. Cleanup wasn't easy, and he continued to writhe and scream for some time, while passing truly vile gas. Afterward, he sat up, thumb in mouth and fist twirling his hair, huddled in on himself and crying. ;_; I dimmed the lights, draped a blankie tent over us both, and promised to stay as long as he needed. Took a while before he was willing to accept cuddles, much less be carried to bed and snuggled to sleep.
My poor boy. ;_; I don't know what caused it. He snubbed his dinner, which is fairly common if I make fish with margarine and herbs instead of with crushed crackers and herbs. He ate some crackers after, but they were a kind he's eaten frequently before, and he didn't eat to excess. I'll have to keep my bedroom door open to make sure I can hear if it happens again
I am very much looking forward to getting our tax refund so we can buy Jack a twin bed. I am perfectly willing to spend an entire night in my children's rooms if need be when they are sick or frightened; but DAMN it's hard to squeeze into a toddler bed, with or without its toddler.
Going to throw the rest of the links up here without further commentary for my own future reference and go to bed as soon as the last load's in the dryer.
