Oct. 27th, 2010 07:16 amWell. Today will be made of suck.
We got a note crammed in the hinge of the (perpetually open) screen door late yesterday. Tierra Vista wished to let us know that today, from 9 am to 5 pm, the electricity for ALL of Housing will be turned off, in order to safely accomplish work to the electrical infrastructure in the construction zone. Please keep your freezers closed, get your cars out of the garages before 9 am, dress in layers, etc.
::rubs temples:: The forecast says we'll have chilly temperatures and strong wind gusts just like yesterday's - and I felt bad about taking Jack out for brief errands taking less than an hour yesterday. Mark doesn't have school, because they've canceled pre-school in favor of the Mega-Huge-Halloween-Extravaganza this morning. We planned to skip it, because a) an outdoor parade of the length described by Ms. Villa in this weather seemed madness, b) the pancake breakfast and post-parade treats were only going to be peanut free, not free of any of Mark's other allergens, and c) the whole thing sounded like a long invitation to a meltdown and/or a trip to the ER for accidental ingestion of allergens.
We're still skipping it. Most of the festivities are not really all that Mark-friendly. But coming on top of the canceled classes, this day without power is going to be a challenge.
We've still got Ms. Dani and Ms. Jen coming for Mark's therapy at 10, and Ms. Jean coming for Jack around 1. My current plan is to take the boys to Culver's for lunch after morning therapy, get back in time to get Ms. Jean a base pass, and head to Walmart or the mall after Jack's session to let the boys run around somewhere warm. (And with bathrooms. Gah. Why hasn't someone invented a backup system for water pumps that keeps basic sanitation going through blackouts?)
Dinner's either going to be turkey burgers at home, or Burger King if the power doesn't come back on as scheduled, followed by a trip to a hotel. We're getting the first hard freezes of the year this week; we have to have heat.
