Stress levels are stressful. Instead of posting about it, and ruining my mood even more, I am ameliorating the situation by posting about really delicious foods. I've been pretty damn good about my little weight loss efforts, even with my scheduling and energy levels preventing much regular exercise. (Short frantic sprints after Zodlings getting into mischief are not good cardio. ^_^; ) So I feel entitled to a little indulgence.

Item the first: A lovely blog I found via cupcake_goth on LJ. (She also has a DW, but does not seem to post there often.) I first encountered her lo these many moons ago via her advice column/blog Gothic Charm School. As her user name indicates, she loves cupcakes, and this blog is called cupcake(s) of the day. The one making me drool the most today is this: http://cupcakesoftheday.tumblr.com/post/59470289/by-leigheldridge ::licks lips:: I am going to dust off my copy of Vegan Cupcakes Will take Over the World tonight, make a short shopping list, and get any ingredients I need tomorrow when I make a diaper run to Super Target. I've got a set of decorative frosting tips I've never used, and I intend to correct that sometime this week, while Mark's in preschool.

I've got to do it this week, because District 11's year ends May 20th. -_- Attempts to do fancy baking after that will have to be shoehorned in to my oh so copious free time after the Zodlings are in bed. ::dry laugh:: We've seen how well that works out when attempting to finally complete my cross stitch WIP.

Item the second: I was smitten with a burning desire to have really first rate doughnuts this weekend. The only bakeries near base that I knew of were Super WalMart/Target/gas stations large enough to serve the most rudimentary selection of Krispy Kremes. Not quite what I had in mind. Google provided me with a wealth of much finer choices. :D Top of the list is Boonzaaijer's Dutch Bakery. Their menu is exquisite. I'm torn between the bear claws and the croissants with strips of chocolate baked inside. ::licks lips::

Absolutely not a Mark-safe bakery, but my conscience is assuaged by the knowledge he would probably react to doughnuts the same way he did to the special order Easter bunny. Or the home made began cupcakes.... ::sigh:: One of these years he'll figure out that Jack's eagerly nomming down the allergen free chocolate for a reason. In the meantime, letting myself and Dav have the occasional non-Mark-compliant indulgence is perfectly ok.

Depending on the weather Saturday, the Zodlings and I will either attend the resource fair being held at the autism run/walk Dav's taking part in, or drive over to that bakery and get some treats to celebrate his completion of the walk. :D If we go to the fair, we'll probably go to Einstein Brother's Bagels afterwards instead. Boonzaaijer's is unfortunately way the heck gone and back again on the far end of town.

Item the third. Dreamwidth comm omnomnom. A few entries back, synecdochic posted a recipe for edible raw cookie dough, which includes no eggs. Not only does this sound nommable in and of itself, but it's potentially something Mark-chan will eat. :D They have many many other nommable recipes. I intend to meander through them this weekend and see if any are adaptable.
(will go back later and edit in a comm tag and user tag. DW code is subtly different in some areas. last time I tried the standard lj user=, it blorked on me.)
