Just joined Rocky Mountain PBS, and signed up to get program sponsorship certificates for each of the Zodlings' favorite shows. :D

The Pikes Peak region doesn't seem to go in for major snowpocalypses like the Northeastern states or the higher elevations of the Rockies. We seem to favor short sharp bursts of winter weather and enough snow to make driving difficult for 24 to 48 hours - then it melts within the next 24 to 48 hours after snow stops falling. Heh.

Since we're expecting another such bout tonight, I took the boys to Walmart to stock up on a few things and get them out of the house before we're snowed in again. [livejournal.com profile] davner complains that this keeps happening on weekends, ruining his plans for taking us places and doing fun things on his own. I suggested he must have done something to piss off Caradhras, despite being neither Elf not Dwarf. He pointed out that we're nowhere near there. I pointed at Pike's Peak and reminded him of the resemblence. ^_^ We shared dorky grins. I do love that nerd boy husband of mine...

The garage and various parts of the downstairs are starting to look quite nice, thanks to my picking away at unpacking and sorting things. I am a bit displeased with the moving company the AF hired in VA. Nothing's been broken, so far, aside from some minor furniture issues.... but they sent one person, to work a twelve hour shift, alone, to pack everything; then sent four burly guys to shove everything on the truck the next day. As a result, I'm making such charming discoveries as our much-used bathroom plunger, wrapped thoroughly in packing paper, in a box of jackets from the downstairs closet. Or my chibi Xellos figurine, which originally came in a boxed set with my much-loved larger Filia figurine... In an entirely separate box from Filia. Wrapped in a wad of paper with some of my sandstone and river geode collection. -_- I am exceedingly grateful that poor Xellos does not appear damaged.

I've taken out some of my Easter decorations, but am leaving the bulk of it in the packing boxes. There really isn't a good Zodling-proof place to display a vase of branches with my Easter tree decorations, and the stuffed bunnies would probably get gnawed on no matter where I put them. But we do have baskets to display the nice allergen-free chocolate bunnies we bought from Amanda's Own Confection. ^_^ And a few fake plastic eggs, and I'll round them out with some Mike & Ike's, which Mark loves.

I already tore my way through Unnatural Death and Faro's Daughter. :D They are utterly delightful, and will definitely be added to my list of books to bring along for medical appointments. I believe I'll continue reading Dorothy L. Sayers from the beginning of the Wimsy series, rather than the random choice I made to start with. Next on my list is How Doctors Think. I am trying to restrain myself from more book purchases until I finish the ones I already have, but it may be a lost cause. ^_^;
