Scattershot post
Aug. 3rd, 2010 10:38 amVery little to actually post about, but I am bored and a bit lonely, despite the ever-present Zodlings. So.
Mark has, after many months of cajoling and frustration on our part, finally decided he will not only eat kielbasa, but will devour it. ^___^ Three times in the last seven days he's been given cut-up kielbasa, and every time he has wolfed it down (aside from the end piece, which apparently has too tough a skin).
Jack's still snubbing it with every fiber of his wee being, though. ::exasperated eye-roll::
Yesterday Davner managed to pull a muscle in his chest, and went to bed really early. After I tucked the boys in, I took the opportunity to root out every single toy from every nook and cranny that didn't require two people moving furniture.
They officially have enough cars and trucks to warrant a separate toy bin, just to keep the toys semi-organized. ^_^;; I am going to have to start hinting for books and stuffed animals and other, non-vehicle, types of playthings when the relatives ask. And possibly go looking for a couple of dolls that aren't in screamingly-pink attire and accessories. Neither of them are particularly fond of hugging their stuffed animals, but a doll or two for imaginative play seems like a good idea.
The yard's a wet mess from all the rain, so the Zodlings are once again barred from playing out there. Sigh. If we're still here next spring, we are making the landlord sod the yard properly. I'd like to be able to let them play after a rainstorm without them getting coated in mud.
Possibly we'll go to the playground or to Walmart later, just to get everyone out of the house.
Not a lot of progress to be had on any of the more important fronts; it's still hurry-up-and-wait mode.
I've been filling some of the down-time with reading fashion blogs. I mildly curse
captain_ecchi for turning me onto Wardrobe Oxygen. ^_^ She and the lady who runs Already Pretty both have an addiction to Sofft shoes, and are infecting me as well. They're gorgeous, sturdy, look like I could actually walk in them - no mean feat, given my utter lack of grace. And.... average at 100 bucks a pair. -_-;;; I passed on some nearly-as-gorgeous, just as walkable, shoes at Famous Footwear this weekend because they were fifty bucks. A hundred is just not going to happen. Maybe in a few years, when I've got my paralegal degree and the attendant increase in income, along with an actual need to wear good quality shoes on a regular basis...
On the upside, I found a really great pair of brown shoes with a stacked heel at Payless for only 20 bucks. ^_^ I was able to walk the length of the store, back and forth, without feeling off-balance, or having anything chafe, or having weird pressure points on my feet that invariably turn into blisters when worn for any usable stretch of time. I'm considering going back and getting another pair in black when payday arrives.
On the downside, they were size 9 1/2. I think I'm having more trouble mentally adjusting to that shoe size than I did with accepting that I am currently a size 14.
Eh. They're gorgeous, and I can walk in them. That was a hard combo to find in my price range back when I was only an 8 1/2. I'm calling this a win.
Totally cannot wait til Mark's back in school. :D He needs the extra stimulation, I need the downtime, and Jack needs a chance to have Mommy all to himself again, even if only for short periods.
