Jack-jack is one month old today. ^___^ Squee!

We took him in for his two week post-discharge well-baby appt a few days ago. It went very well. He's currently 5 lb., 4 oz., an increase of three oz. over his birth weight. Given the weight he dropped in the early days, that's a good sign. Head circumference, length, etc. are all good. The dr. said she was amazed at the strength of his cry; she's not used to such volume from a baby his size. ^_^ We told her he's had excellent lungs from birth.

He has a small red mark under the left armpit; the dr. said it's just broken capillaries. It'll eventually turn purple and fade away; it may grow bigger before then, but it's nothing to worry about. If it gets really large or doesn't fade after a long time they can have a dermatologist look at it, but this kind of marking usually resolves itself.

He'd had, until that day, some marked oozing from the inner corner of his left eye, off and on. I'd wipe it away; it'd return a few hours later. Stuck his lashes together something fierce a few times, usually overnight. The dr. said it was probably just a clogged tear duct, again, normal for his age and likely to resolve on its own, but she put in an order at the pharmacy for some ointment just in case.

So, of course, it hasn't returned since. ::amused:: I haven't even needed to open the tube.

He's getting even more fiesty and Doscherish with every day. ^_^ He's also become something of an eating machine. Goes at it for half an hour or more per side sometimes; usually appears at least half asleep for the latter half of each session, but if you try and pry him loosely, he glomps on even more fiercely than he already was. I hope he's getting milk during most of those marathon eating sessions, because otherwise he's using mommy as a human pacifier, and that's just not cool. ^_^;

Still not sleeping in the bassinet very well, but I'm working on that. I don't mind cosleeping; heck, it's a delightful way to spend an afternoon nap. But it makes sleeping at night a big hard, because I'm a little afraid of rolling over on him. Not to mention it makes my arm on one side fall asleep, because I have it curved oddly up and around him so he doesn't roll over.

Speaking of which.... Dav found him rolled over on his stomach today in the playpen. I'd put him down slightly on his side. For him to get all the way on his tummy, at one month, is pretty impressive.

Will post about Mark later; Jack-jack's fussing up a storm and needs me.
