Heading Home
Jun. 7th, 2007 08:18 pmWe're going back to VA on Saturday. I'm both excited and sad.
We'll be back in our own house, with The Zodling in his own room. Glee!
We're leaving Amara-chan behind with the in-laws. Decidedly not glee. ;_; Davner's not any happier about it than I am, but he is convinced that the reason Mark developed eczema in the first place, and the reason it got so much worse when we took him to my in-laws for the winter, is that the boy has an allergy to cats and/or dogs. I don't agree, but I have to admit his reasoning is logical. Damn it. ::sigh:: I'd argue more forcefully for keeping our kitty, but if we bring her home, and Dav turns out to be right, we will be faced with only two options. Watch our little boy suffer through his eczema for however many years it takes until he's old enough to take allergy meds; or take Amara to a local shelter, where she may or may not find a good home. At least Steve and Deb will love Amara and take excellent care of her. ::sigh:: And I have to admit she loves it here. I doubt she'd acclimate to being an indoor cat in the city again very well. (She'd also miss Deb's giant orange male cat, Taylor, something fierce. ^_^ It's a good thing they're both fixed.)
There are lots of good reasons for this decision, but damn does it hurt; the more so since my very first cat, Callisto, ran away last fall. (Dav: He was a psycho demon cat! I loved him too, but I'd have had to shoot him by now! Me: :p Not the point. )
Anyway.
We're going back to roads that don't have gravel, or low water bridges, or one lane bridges for two lane roads, or any of the other delightful surprises that this city girl discovered. ^_^ V
We're leaving Steve and Deb. ;_; I love them. Mark positively adores them. He's going to miss his Grammy and Granpa terribly.
I won't have to drive two hours to find a bookstore. :D
We're going back to Hampton Roads traffic. Ugh.
We're going back to delis that sell knishes and know that 'thin sliced cheese' has more than six slices a pound. (This is only a slight exaggeration.) ^_^
We're leaving the deliciously clean country air. Sigh. And the gorgeous SE Missouri scenery.
I'll have my dishwasher back. :D
We're leaving my boy's grandparents, and my kitty....... ::sniffle:: I guess I'm just not meant to be a catowner.
We'll be back in easy reach of first-run movie theaters.
And we're leaving our trusty babysitters behind... >_<
I wonder if Steve will trade Deb for some of Dav's niftier guns.... <_<
