sethrakOk, Republicans, I hear your (admittedly legitimate) complaint about my fellow Democrat Charlie Rangel's once again trying to push his idiotic bill to reinstate the draft and deftly counter with your party's President appointing a man to a family planning position who thinks contraception increases the number of out-of-wedlock pregnancies and abortions.
Gah. Someone needs to chase Rangel out of ourfandomparty with a large stabble-ing implement. I'd love to go third-party, but the Greens haven't got a snowball's chance in Hell on the national scene, and the other third parties tend to be, well, fruitcakes. davner dear, I am not going over to the Dark Side of the Force, because of idiocies like the second link above. My party may be weak on defense and frequently on spending, but at least we don't get the kind of people who think the Pill means you automatically get breast cancer (that lady at our Catholic marriage class was SO not a Democrat), 'purity balls' are a fine way to bond with your pre-teen daughters (funny how they don't have a similar function for sons...), and vaccinating girls against HPV will lead to promiscuity.
Seriously. What the hell, Republicans? If some of you are against birth control for various reasons, religious or otherwise, well, this is America, free country, free speech, etc. But at least don't be total morons about it. Contraception increasing out-of-wedlock pregnancies, indeed. ::snort:: Out-of-wedlock sex, perhaps. I would respectfully point out people have been indulging in premarital and extramarital sex for thousands of years before the invention of modern contraception.
Ok, enough ranting. I need to tote Mark-chan upstairs and get some sleep before he wakes up and requires another feeding.
