sethrakGot back from the dentist a little bit ago. The tech I saw declares me perfectly healthy and suitable for iv sedation. \o/ She discussed the various pre- and post-op care I should do, and had me sign various consent forms.
Another tech discussed with me the need for using an electric toothbrush and water pik at home once a day, both until the dental work's done and for the foreseeable future. Bonus: They gave me a free electric toothbrush set and electric water pik. No idea if this came out of the fee they're charging for next week's work, or if it's a free giveaway similar to the free toothbrushes dentists get from Colgate et al. It sounds like it'll be annoying to get used to, but not particularly difficult or time-consuming. New toothbrush heads are sold all kinds of places; I won't need to special order them or anything.
Next week is paid for. ::wince:: The cavity filling appt. is the week after. I'll have to go back in some time after next week's cleaning in order to pick up the second set of anti-anxiety drugs I'll need to take before that appt.
Tom was hoping I'd be healthy and aware enough post-cleaning to stay at home with the boys briefly while he got the car re-registered. This will not be possible. I'll require careful watching for six hours after leaving the dentist, and shouldn't drive or be left in sole charge of the kids for twentyfour hours after leaving the dentist. So he's getting the car registration taken care of as we speak, and will bring back the car when he gets home from work this afternoon.
So, if all goes well, I should be in excellent dental health within two weeks. \o/
