To keep myself from obsessive refreshing of websites that aren't going to have any useful updates until 7 pm EST, I took the Zodlings voting, then shopping.

Dear God.

Next time I am forced to have Mark accompany me to the polls, I am bringing some sort of tether or child-leash. I could have coped with him running in circles around the polling room. But the outside door had to be kept propped open, for the use of handicapped voters, since they didn't have automated doors anywhere on that floor. That little Zodling actually ran out of the building at one point, scaring me half to death. -_-;;;

It was a lengthy ballot. A bunch of uncontested judgeships. A bunch of third party candidates for the major races that got zero publicity. A lot more ballot proposals, constitutional amendments, and local.state statute changes than the ones that got all the buzz as well. I worked through the legalese in the unfamiliar ones as best I could, and hopefully voted against the stuff trying to restrict funding for things I consider good and proper uses of taxes.

Also, I think the boys need a paper route. Or something. ::face-palm:: We spent over two hundred bucks today. Half was groceries and pullups/wipes for the boys. Half was winter gear for the boys and me. I didn't even get Jack's diapers, because it would have required a third stop and they were being unruly. Nor did I get Jack snow boots, because he was too uncooperative with trying them on. The best I could manage was inserting his foot at a 45 degree angle, heel barely below the cuff, and toes nowhere near the toe box of the boot.

I'll try again later this week, when I don't have to make as many stops and hopefully he'll be in a more cooperative mood.

Two more hours til 7 pm EST.... ::bounce:: I'm excited, but also worried. Tancredo's been polling really close to Hickenlooper. So have Buck and Bennet. No idea on the dreadful budget-gutting proposals masquerading as tax relief and "creation of wealth". How anyone can say, with a straight face, that it's ok to slash property taxes that go to schools, because the state government will make up the shortfall, is beyond me. The sitting governor is already talking about cutting state funding to schools, in order to balance the budget as required by the constitution, and making up the shortfall with federal education funds. God only knows if there's enough federal money available. ::rubs temples::

Edit: Also, I've got a window open with FiveThirtyEight's assessment of the elections in WI. My ne'er-do-well uncle's bid for treasurer, on the platform that he will abolish the position and report back to everyone who's regular people about all the corruption in Madison, has actually gotten a bunch of my family to deviate from their straight-ticket Republicanism. Not my dad, of course. He'd vote for Kang and Kodos if they were registered Republicans. It's going to be interesting to see what happens there as well.
