Mark did really good at school yesterday. When we approached the door to his classroom, Ms. Dani, his OT from last year, came out, and he beamed and ran up to her for a hug. While she was greeting him, another aide from his sp.ed. Friday class came out, and recognized Jack. She was amazed at how big Jack's grown over the summer. I put Mark's backpack on him. Ms. Dani attempted to get him to wave goodbye, and he zoomed into the classroom without looking back.

When we came to pick him up, I did hear distinct Markian shrieking. But the aide, Ms. Jen, said he'd only started doing that within the last few minutes, because a couple other parents had arrived shortly before I did, and he was angry that he couldn't leave yet. She said the rest of his day had gone just fine. He calmed down quickly as we walked back to the car.

This morning we went to the Visitors' Center to get Ms. Jen a base pass. Ms. Dani already had one, and Jen's going to be accompanying her to all her on-base sessions to learn from her.

Mark was fairly good at the Center while I handled signing Jen in. He ran in circles around the waiting area while Dani hung out with Jack. No attempts to flee out the door when people came and went.

He was also really good during the initial therapy session, even though it involved less play and more talking than he is used to. Ms. Dani, who was only at his class part of the day, and Jen, who'd been at his class the entire afternoon, were able to elaborate to me on his behavior yesterday. Apparently he'd been really really good at following social cues, attempting to imitate the play of other kids, and even played with a doll after observing Ms. Dani cuddling it and pretending to feed it. Really played, not just his usual "grab a toy, look, and throw it aside" thing with stuffed animals and such. :D Jen has a child who's got a massive amount of dolls, and offered to loan me one that I can dress in old baby clothes to help Mark and Jack with that kind of imitative play.

Then he was really calm about Dani and Jen leaving, instead of crying or trying to follow them out the door.

After lunch, I got him dressed for the bus. He was awesome about the new school bus. Climbed right in, let the driver take his backpack, and only got a little goofy about climbing into the built-in seat with straps. He let the driver buckle him in, and didn't cry or get at all upset as I left the bus and it drove away. :D

I am pretty proud of my little Zodling.
