Feb. 16th, 2010 12:05 pmNot dead.
Unpacking, wrangling zodlings, buying new furniture (partly to replace stuff damaged by the move, partly to replace Mark's toddler bed with a hopefully Zodling-proof twin bed), helping
davner assemble the shiny new computer desk for the equally shiny new computer, etc.
(Previous incarnations of our home system have been christened Yggdrasil, because we are Big Damn Ah! My Goddess Nerds around these parts.
davner, feeling it was time for a change, dubbed the new system 'Nidhogg'. I still maintain this was contributory to the old one's sudden accleration of cybernetic senility the day before we brought Nidhogg home from Best Buy.)
Now I'm doing recon via Google Maps to plan the best route for getting to Mark's new school this afternoon, so I can drop off the needed paperwork and fill out the application for enrollment. Thus far, it is looking like we cannot easily get to a BK from base, aside from the rather crappy and not all that close one I tried out last week, on the way home from the world's smallest Target. (There are better Targets around Colorado Springs. Sadly, the closest one is on Powers BLVD, a road which has three to four lanes in each direction and a pretty high speed limit, by my nervous standards.) Second choice is Culver's, which also has Mark-safe french fries, but requires a bit more involved route to avoid Powers. Sigh. Plan C involves Mark-safe candy, provided he is good.
I'd whine about how one of the old house's few virtues was an easily accessible BK.... But then I remembered how hard it was the first few times I drove to that BK. I nearly scraped paint and tire rubber off the car on a curb, making a right turn - and then I forgot to put the car in park when paying at the window. Poor
davner face-palmed a lot that day.
Have not gotten to watch much of the Olympics, as a result of all the stuff going on. Have discovered Mark thinks women's hockey is made of awesome. ^_^ Have decided that the commentators on the pairs figure skating program need to DIAF so damn much. They are awful, supercilious, and unnecessarily catty. Second Chinese team 'manages to get the job done, but lacks passion', my ass. Harrumph.
No idea who medaled, as I DVR'ed last night's airing in hopes of watching it after the Zodlings were tucked in - only to find Dav playing Bioshock 2. Going to watch it this afternoon, if I make the boys take a nap after our errands, or this evening. Dav can play Left For Dead online with Will.
I hope the married couple, who skated to "Who Wants to Live Forever" for this weekend's short program, got on the podium. ^_^ They were adorable. And given how much falling most of the other pairs did, they at least should have gotten bronze.
