Un-intentional Ironic Remark of the PM
Feb. 24th, 2009 10:32 pm"Medical decisions should be made between a doctor and his patients, not by government bureaucrats" - Gov. Jindal, in his rebuttal to the Not-A-State-Of the-Union-Address. (Slight paraphrase, I was too busy stifling my outraged guffaws so as not to awaken Jack, to get it down right away.)
Yeah, between a doctor and his/her patients.... Unless the patients are frail, weak-willed women who Know Not What They Do when they seek abortions or birth control.
Also, if that wasn't the earliest stump speech for the next presidential race ever, concealed as the opposition rebuttal, I'll eat a burger with mayo on it.
Meh. I'm going to go eat a fruit popsicle and try to suppress the urge to overcapitalize that seems to be afflicting me.

...because it can be taken two ways. Are you meaning that statement as in YOU feel women who seek abortions and birth control are frail, weak willed women, or are you making a reference to the government not wanting to get involved with anything unless it has to do with taking away our rights for abortions and birth control?
Just curious...

Date: 2009-02-25 04:15 am (UTC)I was being sarcastic about weakwilled women and etc.
I most definitely meant that the government, or at least Republicans in government, think that interfering with women's rights to make decisions about birth control and abortion totally doesn't count in discussions on medical privacy.
I am, and have always been, staunchly pro-choice. (Much to the chagrin of my old-school Catholic parents. Heh.)
