Baby stuff

sethrakJack's appt was at 9:10. Apparently parking at this hospital's a pain in the ass even when there isn't a festival going on. I made it inside on time, but I'm going to add in extra time for future appts to account for it. Thank God I didn't take one of the earlier times the Tricare line offered; I'd have been late and forced to reschedule.
He's gained an ounce and a half since Friday. Dr. Bautista is neither upset nor thrilled by this, as he's producing a fair amount of wet diapers, and is bright-eyed and alert, but he "should" be gaining an ounce per day.
So I'm supposed to keep up the very frequent feedings, and bring him back Wednesday sometime between 9 and 10 am for another weight check. We don't need an appt, he said just come in and tell them it's on his orders. If he's still gaining slow, the dr said we may need to consider supplementing with formula. I am less than enamoured with this idea, and uncertain what good it will do, given his habit of nibbling at bottles, but we'll have to see. I need to dig up the number of the lactation consultants I saw at Langley and talk things over with one of them. They also practice at Fort Eustis, so Tricare shouldn't be any trouble.
The nurse measured him at 20 inches long. I think he was 18 and a half at birth; will have to check.

Mark was a good boy most of the trip and this morning, but right before naptime, I caught him pelting his little brother with empty sippy cups in the playpen, and had to spank him. Jack was fine; Mark had poor aim.
Lat night Dav tried out the electric clippers on Mark. It was less hilarious than I'd expected, but neither as hideous in its results as I'd feared, nor quite as effective as![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
davner had hoped. Hell, the stupid thing kept ceasing to function every two or three passes across the head, for no readily discernable reason. This did not make my job, as hand-grabber, nor Dav's any easier. At least now he looks less like Starbuck, either Dirk Benedict or Katie Sackhoff, so Dav's happier. ;p I personally never saw the resemblence...
We're going to try to finish the job tonight. ::small shudder::
