sethrakI was going to ship off Dav's care package today. but when going through a final tally of what I was shipping to him, it occurred to me that I'd only bought three cans of soup. Combined with the ramen, mac & cheese, and tea, that's hardly enough to feed a healthy Mazoku/airman for a couple months.
So, since I needed to go to the bank anyways, I went on a small trek down to State St.
Next time I make a shopping trip on the bus, somebody _please_ remind me to bring along a backpack. or at least have the sense to make fewer large impulse purchases. My shoulders hurt. The walk up the hill from the store to the bus stop, and from the other bus stop to my house, was a most unpleasant reminder of shopping trips back in Tampa, walking from the local grocery store to our apartment alone. Back then, I generally had a gallon of milk and a jug of Sunny delight weighing my arms down along with my other stuff. This time my purchases were a trifle less massive, but still not fun to lug for any distance. At the last minute I decided, insanely in retrospect, to get a twelve pack of cheap soda.
One arm had my purse slung over the shoulder, with my checkbook, wallet, a copy of the NYT, the peanut butter, and a can of soup. The last two items were added in a vain attempt to lighten the load on the other arm, only a few yards away from the grocery store. Dangling from the hand of that same arm was the twelve pack.
Just as bad was the load on the other arm. Two plastic bags, double-bagged mind you, containing lots of soup, peanut butter, a multi-pack of mac&cheese instead of the two single packs I'd had before, more cookies, two big boxes of tea bags, bacon bits so I could eat the bottle I'd already bought... Oh, and did I mention soup? ^_^;; Heavy soup. Itai. Itai, I say.
My shoulders are so sore right now. Even though I kept switching the two loads from arm to arm to keep the strain equal. I need a back rub. The things I do for love. ^_- (No guilt allowed, Tom-chan.) My only mistake was in not being smart enough to use a backpack to spread the load more evenly. At least now I have absolutely everything I think he needs for the next few weeks, as well as the new bus pass I needed for work.
I'll have to get up early tomorrow and mail it all off. Right now I need to get my hair braided for work.
