I am still giggling immoderately at odd intervals over this. ^___^
The exam went fine. I have apparently nothing wrong with the left side that can be discerned by mammogram or ultrasound. Conclusion: I am abnormally sensitive to caffeine and need to avoid it if possible and use it only sparingly if I must consume it at all. Woe. ;_;
Fortunately Davner made a special trip to the Walmart on Platte Ave., currently the only local store we know of that sells my beloved decaf regular Dr. Pepper, and bought me three 12-packs. Yay Davner! :D
The right side caused the mammogram techs a bit of trouble, and ended up being the recipient of special attention during the ultrasound. They found a small benign growth/cyst, which does not present itself to manual examining. It's almost certainly nothing to worry about, but they want me to keep an eye on it with ultrasounds every six months for the next year or two. I'm supposed to call Radiology in five and a half months, because they don't make appointments more than a month in advance. The doctor said based on my age, family non-history of breast problems, and the state of the cyst, I do NOT need to get another mammogram until age 40 unless another problem arises.
It was, as I predicted, really uncomfortable bordering on painful at times, but nothing compared to a GYN exam. I have no qualms about eventually getting on a regular regimen of mammograms when the time comes.
