Jack's cry has been sounding hoarse and just plain off the last two days. He's also been sneezing, albeit without producing mucus or anything being visible in his nose. Today I decided he needed to be seen by a pediatrician, and called the Tricare appt. line to arrange it.

The Tricare lady said he'd been assigned to Fort Eustis' Pediatrics Clinic.

::beats head into desk::

Why in the name of pendantic military regs did Tricare assign him to the Army clinic, when the Air Force clinic is closer and his brother's already assigned there?! I thought Tricare was all about assigning people as close to their residence as possible! Hell, that's why they wanted to have Jack go to the satellite clinic in base housing for his two week appt., before we explained to them that no, he was Prime, not Standard, and therefore rated the base hospital's clinic.

It's going to be a pain in the ass to get there. Jefferson Ave.'s nearly as busy as the freeway, but less prone to traffic stopping accidents, so I'm taking that instead. But I have no choice; I don't like the sound of his cry, and it being Friday, there's not enough time for Dav to perform a panda-smash on Tricare before the weekend. His appt's for 1:20 this afternoon.

I am SO getting secondary insurance when the boys are in school and I go back to work...

Wandering LJ while nursing Jack and waiting on the dryer. Can't nap today; I'd risk missing the doctor appt. or being late. Once Jack's done and hopefully sleeping, I have to pack my baby bag and eat lunch. Mark will need food; the appt's going to screw up his nap and meal schedule something fierce. I'm also bringing a few of his Leapfrog letters, and the handheld base if I can find it, to prevent outbreaks of Zodlingness.

Good news: Jack's symptoms are nothing serious; nothing wrong with his lungs, etc. If they persist, just use saline drops and a nasal aspirator bulb.

Not-so-good news: Dr. Bautista is unhappy with Jack's small weight gain. Today he weighed in at 5 lb. 5 oz., only one ounce more than his two week post-discharge appt. ;_; We're to come back on Mon. for a weight check; in the meantime, I'm to nurse him every one and a half to two hours, and NOT to let him sleep through feedings. Gah. This is going to suck. Poor Jack.

Getting to the hospital was every bit as annoying as foreseen; traffic was bad, and the gate guard's directions, while eventually proving to be accurate, confused me. Nor did it help that they had some kind of summer festival in the ballpark right across from the hospital, making parking a complete bitch.

But now I know how to find it, and can get there Monday easily.

Getting the appt. will be the hard part. The clinic receptionist didn't have anything open. She told me to call the Tricare appt. line Monday morning and ask for a same-day appt.; not to mention it being a followup or anything, lest they attempt to put me off. Joy.

Wish me luck and Jack plenty of weight gain.
