Got off from work earlier than usual, so I called the Women's Health Clinic to make an appointment for my "first OB briefing", as the paperwork calls it. Three to four hours of discussing my medical history, explaining base procedures for expectant parents to me and Dav, and a variety of mild to highly icky things done to me. Also, establishment of a due date and of how far along I currently am in my pregnancy.
Sounds like it's something that ought to get done fairly early in pregnancy, ne?
Apparently not to the female airman who answered the phone.
"Sponsor's social?"
I gave it.
::taktakkataktakkatakkitytak for longer than Ron White's bit about the Morse code used to access his earliest arrest records in his home county:: "Okay! April25th12:30ItwilltakefourhoursBethere15minutespriorsowecanfilloutpaperworkHaveaniceday!!!!"
Um, okay, uh...

She spoke way too fast for me to object or do more than scribble down the appointment time. Yes, you read that right; April 25th.
Let's review here. Doctors count the start of a woman's pregnancy as being the first day of her last period. Mine was January 1st.
If that airman has her way, I'm going to be four months along before I see a doctor. Lovely. Plug's got it worse, but damn. You'd think they'd have a better sense of priorities.
You'd think the airman would have at least asked me when my last period was. >_< Hell, I get asked that sometimes when all I'm there for is a broken finger. OB/GYN care is all the Women's Health Clinic *does*.
I'm going to call them again tomorrow and see if I can get an earlier appointment. Before the end of March would be nice. I can't go to my supervisor and start requesting accommodations for my changing physical state if I don't know what accommodations to ask for.
