What is Your Destiny? by Valcion
Created with quill18's MemeGen!

I blame Drak for it. ^_^ And the interesting destiny it gave me.... I don't *have* an archnemesis that I'm aware of....

Now, back to being semi disciplined.... I need to go do some serious research on the Dem candidates. Informed voting and all that.

Notes on my wesearching today.... Extremely random. I'm flipping between a window open to a cosplay website, showing pics from Anime Iowa this year, and another window open to various political news websites, while I try doing research on candidates. I'm refraining from linking to the truly scary cosplayers, for the protection of my readers. >_< Nobody needs to see middle-aged male Sailor Scouts.

People, just because you're cosplaying a blonde character, and you yourself are not blond, does not mean you have to have a screaming canary yellow wig to complete your costume. There's plenty of dye available out there, some of which is even temporary, and which is less painful to the eyes of your beholders. If you've got black hair, or just are squeamish about using dye, please, for the love of heaven, refrain from using the brightest yellow wig available, like this girl did: http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0823f059.jpg She has a great Queen Serenity costume - except for that wig. Her companion's got a darn good Mercury costume too.

Kawaii lil Sumomo cosplayer.... http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0823c122.jpg I so want to scoop her up and huggle her.

Has Al Sharpton ever won an election? For anything? ::eyes his profile on MSNBC.com dubiously:: Doesn't look like it. Somebody 'splain to Lucy why he's considered a viable candidate by anyone but himself. I don't think you can get the experience you need to run the country without at least one political office under your belt. But maybe that's just me...

Who is retired General Wesley Clark? I'm reading this article on him, but not getting any clear view aside from the author not thinking anyone should care if he runs or not. I never heard of him before this article.

John Edwards sounds like a reasonably viable candidate. This does not mean I particularly like his views. I'm not entirely happy about what his listed environmental votes have been, for example. Just means he seems to have a coherent plan, unlike Sharpton. Only has one term of office under his belt, as a senator for NC. But one term of a national position is better than none.

Ye flipping gods.... Damn good costume.... but who is the character? o_o
http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0823f055.jpg

Decent Nabeshin cosplayer. ^_^ http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822a052.jpg Wonder if I could pull off Hyatt someday.... nah.... I lack the chest. ^_^

Joe Lieberman advocates targeted tax cuts to broadband and nanotech firms to promote business investment.... Mmkay.... is this because he thinks it will boost the economy, which I see as dubious, considering how far we currently are with nanotech, or is this because he simply supports these technologies and figures they're worth future investment in. I've got no quarrel with him about the worth of broadband. Just think it's a funny place to zero in on. I like that he promotes a tax rebate for people who made too little to get the last rebate Bush gave out. Poor people need the extra cash, and will very likely spend it, giving a brief upsurge to the economy. He's good on energy. Surprisingly good on the environment. For some reason I thought he was weak there. Bad, very bad, on free speech and the like. Backs religious vouchers, feh.

I wish cosplay sites would label the pictures they post with character names and series names. Even if a viewer of the site has seen the anime, they might not recognize the costume if it's a fairly generic one, like a schoolgirl uniform, or things like that. And an awful lot of these characters I think I haven't even seen the anime or webart about the anime. http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822a099.jpg This one just has me confused.... http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b063.jpg And so does this one.

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b070.jpg Cute Vash.... ^_-

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b075.jpg Another case where I must cry out to the anime gods "What the heck is this?"

Dick Gephardt.... Hmm.... Not popular amongst my conservative friends, but that doesn't mean anything. I find myself agreeing with said friends more than I like sometimes. Good on energy.... not so good by my standards on terrorism. Meh. I'll read more on him later; he's not grabbing my attention enough right now.

Carol Mosley Braun..... Meh.... Not as dreadful as Sharpton, but, not attention grabbing. Read more on her later.

Howard Dean.... Recently featured in Doonesbury as Alex's first taste of politics.... I like his profile as listed on MSNBC.... Hmm...

Think this is a lost Goth.... http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b096.jpg

Back to Dean.... I'm kinda grumpy. I evidently moved away from WI at precisely the wrong time. For one thing the legislature recently moved the WI pres primary to Feb, so we became suddenly much more important in choosing candidates - but this year I won't be elegible to vote there. Damn. Damn damn damn. NE isn't featured at all on the summer campaign tours of any candidate whose site I've looked at, as opposed to just skimming the MSNBC profile. For another thing, he just stopped in Milwaukee. ;_; I want to hear a candidate speak.
He's very good on the environment... Decent on agriculture.... I adore that he backs near-universal health care, although I'd like to know where he plans to get the money to fund it... Nice on civil rights..... Seems to fit most of my ideas on the economy.... Good on labor.... Seems all right on the other topics he highlights on his website... My political science geek senses are all tingly.... ^_^ But I'm not jumping to a decision yet.

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b172.jpg Bwa???

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b178.jpg Very good Mutsumi, ne? Even has a turtle plushie.

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b216.jpg StrongBad! Darn good costume.

My mate has a song on our WinAmp involving the words 'Let's talk dirty in Hawaiian" featured in the chorus . o_O

Woot! Amethyst Angel got a Hall Costume Award for her way nifty Ifurita! She deserved it. So did the kawaii lil Sumomo I mentioned earlier.

Ok, on to John Kerry.... Not bad overall in his profile. I like his advocacy of funding for high speed rail lines between major cities.... we need more ground-based mass transit in this country.... Very good on energy....Not bad on security and foreign policy.... Odd idea on Social Security.... Good everywhere else.... haven't read his own website yet, but so far he sounds as good as Dean, if different.

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b216.jpg He put a lot of work into his.... um.... Bishie Male Bad Guy from Lodoss costume (shame on me for forgetting the name).... But his Pirotess is kinda chunky, and looks ill-tempered rather than sexily dangerous.

Kerry's main website touts his veteran experience a lot.... Let's see what he has to say on the issues, for himself, not as listed by other websites. He lists GLBT issues as its own section separate from civil rights, which Dean didn't, and seems good on both of them....Seems, well, decent, if not thrilling, on other topics.... Close second to Dean for my vote. We'll have to see what happens in the ensuing months.

Graham seems not bad, but now my eyes are glazing over..... I'll read up on him tomorrow.

Back to fun stuff! http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0822b216.jpg Zelgadis cosplayer, not bad, but not droolworthy.

http://www.fansview.com/2003/animeiowa/0823e193.jpg Very welldone Belldandy costume.

http://www.ozyandmillie.org/2003/om20030823.html ::sniggle:: Maybe I'll just write in Llewellyn for president if the Dems manage to mess up with their candidate. Nah..... my political conscience won't let me. Darn.

Using my real name on the destiny quiz from the previous post gives me a destiny of "Creator of Some Super Weapon" by April 13, 2006..... o_o

All right, enough geeky-ness and otaku behavior. I got done what I wanted, for now, and I need food. Ja ne, folks.
