LJ gear

Ok, does anyone know where I go to suggest that the LJ gear a) is woefully bland and b) needs an infusion of Frank the Goat to liven things up? ^_^ I haven't really delved at all into the developer commnuity, so I don't know where th best and most direct route wis for results.

I'd actually buy a Frank t-shirt. ^_^ I like Frank. And I'm sure the cash generated by sales of such t-shirts is going to a better cause than the money being sucked from my paychecks in the form of income taxes.

I had a fairly productive day. Played round the net during the morning and traded emails with Tom more times than is probably wise given he's at work that time of day. ^_^ I can't help it. He's an addictive little mazoku in the guise of an airman.

Then I went to the bank to deposit my latest paycheck from Gilles. Stopped at Cousin's for some subs after, and got some flowers for the back porch. I bought a four pack of purple dianthus, and two four-packs of red ones. They're now growing in my wire over-the-bannister planter. The one which isn't actually hanging over a bannister. ^_^; Not my fault the stupid bannister doesn't have a protruding bit for the handles to hang onto...

Tomorrow morning before K-Mart I'll tidy up the rest of the back porch, and water my flowers.

Then I did several loads of laundry, and learned the importance of balancing the load in the washer properly. -_- The pillows were what did me in; normally I can run a load of laundry just fine. Next time I'll run the pillows separately, and avoid all the hassle of water running across the basement floor in a steady trickle.

I also tidied up part of the bathroom closet while in search of my summer sheets. They weren't there, and finding where I really had put them last fall turned out a bit of a chore. But it was worth it to get a couple of those shelves uncluttered. I swear my mother must have packrat genes as bad as any on Dad's side. The state of that closet certainly can't be blamed on him. His toiletries would probably fill the medicine cabinet and under-sink cabinet with room to spare if he lived alone.

Then I re-read part of The Misplaced Legion. ^_^ I do like that book. I probably would have done my best to finish reading it anyways, because Tom likes it so much. But I like it in and of itself, not just for the insights it gives me to Tom's thought processes.

And then came work at Gilles'. Bleah. We were crazy busy. Not sure why; the weather wasn't particularly summer-like; there wasn't a Brewer game; and far as I know there weren't any church festivals nearby. It's too early for the church festivals anyway.

I was on register most of the night, which was fine by me. The other choice would have been steam table. I don't like steam table at all. It's either boring, or else you have back to back orders which end up forcing you to nuke hot dogs in rapid sucession because the steamer doesn't have time to cook enough. I never wanted to be trained on it in the first place. I don't much like the smells of the food we cook there. Also, I have a tendency to heat exhaustion in the summer months, and I don't think working on a hot table, next to the even hotter gril area, will be good for me. But I wasn't given a choice in the matter; and it did mean a nice lil pay raise.

What really sucked was being put on dish washing as clean up. I don't mind doing a reasonable amount of dishes. It's the huge amount of dishes a restaurant accumluates at the end of a night, with all the items that need to be soaked in hot soapy water before you can even begin to have a hope in heaven of getting the food loose, that annoys me. Doing it the old-fashioned way, with four sinks and some scrub sheets only makes it worse. I wish we had an industrial-grade dishwasher, like the one I used when I used to work for my uncle's restaurant. You still need to do a certain amount of scrubbing to make sure the truly stubborn food is loosened, but at least the easy stuff can be popped into the washer rapidly and gotten out of the way.

Tomorrow I'll be gone most of the day, between my two jobs. So I won't have time to email Tom. ::sigh:: Oh, well. Thursday I have off from K-Mart. I can molest him then. ^_-

It's getting pretty late; I think I'll turn in.
