Thanksgiving dinner, despite the lack of relatives or stray friends taken in for the holiday, had mild drama nonetheless. Davner made a scrumptious Mark-safe dinner. Baked ham (easier than a turkey, esp. four days before moving), mashed potatoes, cornbread-based Stovetop Stuffing, Italian bread inna tube, and cranberry sauce.
Guess how much of it the boys condescended to eat.
Go on. Guess.
Two pieces of Italian bread each. ::face-palm:: Nommed down with a whole lot of whining and sass and general lip. For a kid with a limited vocabulary and a kid with no discernable ability to speak English, they sure can give a lot of backtalk. If they repeat this charming performance for Christmas dinner, next year we may feed them chicken nuggets, send them to bed early, and order pizza. :p It was a delectable meal, despite the finicky antics of our little goons. We also got a caramel pecan pie from Village Inn. Davner loves pecans. I don't like normal pecan pie, but thought I'd like this variant. Unfortunately, I do not. ;_; I'll make pumpkin pie and cookies later this week instead.
Today we firmly shunned the Black Friday sales. Just took the boys to the nearest playground and let them run around for an hour and a half, then everyone took naps after lunch. Poor Davner nearly had to stay home, because he came close to throwing out his back lifting Mark over the baby gate to the front hall. ;_; He's done it before, but thank God this time he was able to get off the floor again within fifteen minutes.
I did stop by the Commissary, but only because we needed soy milk and pullups, and I figured all the shoppers would be over at the BX instead. I was right. On a whim, I grabbed a bag of soft gingerbread cookies imported from Germany. The Comm. always has the best European candy and cookies, especially around the holidays. :D Totally not Mark-safe, but Dav and I deserve a treat.
The ingredient list includes 'spice'. I strongly suspect this is Germanic code for 'insanely addictive crack extract'. The are so. damn. good. We are both having trouble restraining ourselves from eating too many. :D
Probably going to hold off on Christmas shopping until after Tuesday. I don't want to risk the presents getting lost in the shuffle of packing and unpacking.
::yawwwwn, stretch again:: God. I am still tired from chasing the Zodlings around two different playgrounds and the pine tree path. I need to start incorporating regular exercise into my routine again.
