::sigh::

Right after I ripped open the huge care package from Tom that finally arrived today, I turned my attention to the two slim envelopes Jase had given me. One was from Citibank. I knew this was not a good sign. Slim envelopes from places you've recently applied to never are. Slim envelopes from places you've applied to and been told to expect a call from.... ::sigh::

They allege I am insufficently qualified, and have chosen to give the position to someone who has the qualifications I do not. They wish me all the best in my endeavours to find work. ::snort::

I hate that last line in particular. It sounds so damn condescending every time I read it.

Reading that right after the nice care package from Tom was a bit of a blow. I was in a horrible mood for a while afterwards. But I went outside for a bit, and that cheered me up a great deal. So did arranging in my room all the things from home Tom sent me. ^_^ I have my purple dragon plushie again. She's guarding the top of my bookcase, and is now wearing a small lei Tom included in the box. Too damn cute. My room really looks like mine now, which cheers me up quite a bit in spite of the rejection letter.

Tomorrow Steph's taking me round the local malls to try applying for seasonal work. Not quite what I'd hoped for, but I really want and need a job. I hate being unemployed. I hate not having anything constructive to do all day. Heck, back home, before I got that job at Fontenelle, I could clean up the apartment a bit while waiting for job phonecalls and Tom to come home. Steph and Jase, though, don't need much tidying up after. Just dishes washed every now and then. ^_^

I've been reading some news articles about Iraq. Japan has decided it will not be sending the promised troops until next year sometime, citing security concerns. -_- Excuse me, but isn't that precisely why we wanted more troops from our allies? To improve the security situation? Who ever heard of troops only coming in to an already pacified area? Do they suppose the terrorists will go away quietly on their own? Yes, the situation in iraq is unstable. Toppling a dictator who held the country in an iron grip for decades will do that. It won't stabilize without strong support from a worldwide troop presence.

Heh. Listen to me. I'm supposed to be a pacifist, and I'm advocating sending in troops. But... *not* sending in troops will only lead to more bombings, and more looting, and more deaths of innocents. I don't see any non military solution. I hate that.

I hate those of my fellow Dems who don't want to fund the rebuilding of Iraq. Fine, they didn't want the war to begin with - even though many of the loudest anti-funding people voted for the war resolution. But how can they justify pulling out and leaving the Iraqi people with a bombed out, shattered, anarchy-filled country that *we* are directly responsible for???

::sigh::

Ok, Kim, close your eyes and think of ferrets and chocolate chip cookies... ^_^
