Sep. 6th, 2010 08:40 pmShort update. No lip from the peanut gallery regarding my typical inability to do anything of the sort. ;p
Started this morning at 3:30 am, courtesy of
davner needing to catch a plane for a TDY to a really awesome location. (Not so awesome I'll be getting a yukata as a "Sorry you couldn't come" present. But sufficiently so that he's doing recon after his duty shifts are over, so we can plot a vacation there someday.) He gets back late Thursday.
Utterly failed to go back to sleep before the Zodlings began their usual morning chorus. Mark needed an emergency bath, but the room was ok. The rest of the day went about as well as could be expected, given that I was unable to acquire caffeine until late enough in the day that I couldn't drink it, lest I be unable to sleep tonight. The Zodlings did their usual routine of squabbles over coveted toys, frolicking in the backyard, watching tv, and demanding cuddles/snacks/stories. I didn't try taking them to the playground, because I expected crowds of picnickers.
The day drew to a close with Mark needing another emergency bath right before I was going to run his bedtime-bath. :;wince:: The downside of Davner being gone for four days is that I don't have anyone to help with cleanup and Jack-wrangling when this happens. So poor Jack got tossed into the playpen with a recording of WordGirl while I got Mark into bed and cleaned up the carnage.
Right now Jack is frolicking around the living room while we watch Return of the Jedi. It's way past his bedtime, but he took a late nap, and got stuck in the playpen for an hour through no fault of his own. I'll get him into bed soon. He seems to really like the Imperial March and the love theme when Leia rescues Han from the carbonite. Definitely our child. ^_^
Nobody needs to worry about the wildfires up near Boulder affecting us. Boulder is northwest of Colorado Springs, and the fires are currently moving north-northeast. I am keeping the bug-out bag ready to go, just in case. That Boulder wildfire's going nowhere near us - but there's a wide stretch of pasture directly east of us, dry as a tinderbox like the whole state is lately, and nothing much on it to slow down a blaze if one starts.
But I am not terribly worried about it. I'm more worried about running my usual errands with two Zodlings in tow, and when I'll get the official confirmation of Jack's IFSP eval. It's supposed to be the 23rd.
