Random late-morning update
Jul. 8th, 2010 10:40 amThe weekend was really busy. Jack's birthday; cake that tasted great but looked like crap, due to a couple issues I'll correct next time; trip to a local nature area we hadn't been to before; trip to the giant local flea market, which involved a nasty sunburn after only an hour. >_< Next time I'll wear sunblock no matter how cloudy it is.
Also got yet another rejection letter from UWM regarding my request for an unofficial transcript. >_< "Some of your answers to our identifying questions contained information that was not in our records during your time as a student, so we're going to have to ask you to resubmit the request in writing, with a signature."
So now I get to wait another week while that letter goes through the mail and their new reply comes back. This is really delaying my effort to get enrolled at UMUC. I wish the young man who cleared the hold on my records had warned me about all this.
As I mentioned to Dav when we were kvteching about this latest run-around, sometimes I think it would have been easier to have just kept my maiden name. I mean, UWM has my freaking social security number. They can cross-check that my maiden name in their records and my married name belong to the same person, ffs. He replied in a sad small voice "But, then you wouldn't be a Doscher." I smiled at him, and said "Yeah, but I'd still be your beloved and the mother of your children...". His voice got sadder and smaller, as he said "But it wouldn't be the same...". Awwww. ^_^ I told him that the look on his face was precisely why I'd changed my name back then, because it made me sad to see him sad.
It still aggravates the hell out of me when problems like this arise, though. Marital name changes are supposed to be the cultural default. Why are things like this so hard, then?!
I want to get enrolled in college, damn it. It'll only be one class this fall, and I suspect that finding time for studying, with two Zodlings underfoot, will be a considerable challenge. But I still want to enroll. This is seriously hampering my efforts.
