The water cutoff valve on the downstairs toilet will not move.
Not no way. Not nohow.
::rubs temples ala Yzma:: The upstairs toilet's valve moves just fine - I've had to do a quick-grab for it before, when that toilet made a valiant effort at flooding the room a couple years back.
We have some sort of blockage issue, and both my self-repair book and the online sources I have consulted strongly urge you to turn said valve OFF before making with plungers and buckets of water and whatnot.
I'm trying buckets of hot water anyway, because it's suggested by WikiHow to dissolve the blockage, and water in the bowl *does* eventually drain. Just not quite fast enough to match the influx of fresh water, when flushed. It stops bare millimeters from the edge of the bowl, which given the FAIL on the part of the cutoff valve, is a blessing and a half.
It's not the only toilet. But trekking upstairs several times a day while Mark cavorts unattended downstairs and Jack wails in outrage in his playpen? Not really optimal. It's the weekend, so maintenance probably won't even get the message I leave on their machine til Monday.
Ngghhh.
At least Tohru-chan's back safe and sound and free of charge from the dealer. May do a more involved post on my day as I wait for the hot water to work through the pipes. I'm more than a little caffeinated.
Edit: I'm using hot tap water, not boiling water, lest it muck with the internal seals, and not using Liquid Plumber, as their website says
"Can I use Liquid-PlumberĀ® clog removers in my toilet?
Clog removers are not designed to remove the waste that may be clogging your toilet."
Final Edit: I have achieved clog removal! Yatta!
Now to pour bleach in there and disinfect it. ^_^
