Phone tag is such fun
Sep. 17th, 2008 03:55 pmGot a call from Mark's pediatrician's nurse this morning, as we were on our way out the door for Jack's two-month well-baby visit. I re-explained the situation with the speech therapist needing both a referral and a prescription. The nurse asked me for their fax number, and he assured me they'd get it faxed over there today.
Said call made me late for Jack's appt., which is now rescheduled to Oct. 2nd, but at the time I didn't mind. Mark needs that speech eval. Jack's shots can wait a little bit. He doesn't get much exposure to outside contagions. ::knocks on wood::
Then I get a call during our afternoon nap from the nurse again, to tell me they finally got the fax through; allegedly the fax number was busy most of the day, and they'd only just gotten through. I thanked the nurse, hung up, and coaxed Jack back to sleep.
A little bit ago I called the speech therapist's office to get Mark's speech evaluation scheduled.
That went fine. However, the receptionist told me that while they had indeed gotten the prescription faxed, it was for Jacob. Not Marcus.
Oh dear. >_<
We giggled a bit about the mix-up - Jack isn't even seen at that clinic! He goes to Fort Eustis! I told her I'd fix it, and if they didn't get the correct paperwork by Friday to call me back and I'd take further steps. Then I got on the phone with Langley. The desk nurse took my message and said he'd see to it that Dr. Hines' nurse got it before the end of the duty day.
Considering that Jack was assigned elsewhere by Tricare, and he hasn't been seen by anyone there since his two-week post-discharge checkup, this is pretty damn funny. Vexing, but funny.
I also tried to reschedule Mark's hearing evaluation, but got their answering machine. Sigh. At least they're semi-prompt about calling back at that office.
Gaaaahhhhhh.... And I still need to work on my freeway driving skills, so I can get there by myself if Mark needs speech therapy in addition to an evaluation.... and I have two fillings tomorrow....
