"The church does not feel authorized to change the will of its founder Jesus Christ," Amato said in an interview prepared for Vatican Radio that was released to reporters. The reference is to Christ's having chosen only men as his Apostles."
Um.... with all due respect to the Church's scholars, have they any idea what would have happened to women who did get chosen as apostles, in the culture of the Roman-occupied Israel and Judeah of 2000 years ago??? Just for starters, rape by Roman soldiers, ostricization by their own people for wandering about with men to whom they were neither related by blood nor married to... Jesus didn't choose an all-male group of Apostles because He didn't want women to have positions of power, damn it. Correlation does NOT equate causation! >_<
Sigh. I love God. It's his fanboys I can't stand.
