Jul. 19th, 2011 10:53 amSo, the first of the recalls against three of the WI Democrat state legislators who left the state in protest over Gov Walker's anti union budget amendments is today. (The other two Dems and the six Repubs facing recall will do so later this summer because they faced primary challenges, with Republicans running as fake Dems in the case of the two actual Dem legislators.)

This is who the Republican party brought forth as an example of sterling leadership: "VanderLeest won the Republican Party's nomination after Rep. John Nygren, R-Marinette, failed to collect enough valid signatures to get his name on the ballot. But VanderLeest's campaign has been bogged down with controversy stemming from allegations of domestic abuse from an ex-wife.
VanderLeest has pleaded no contest to two counts of disorderly conduct stemming from two separate incidents with his ex-wife. He has never been found guilty of domestic abuse, because his wife has twice submitted written affidavits recanting statements made to police. VanderLeest also did not pay property taxes in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and has an unpaid settlement of almost $30,000 from 2006."
