Just had to cancel/reschedule the final fitting for those darn hard contacts that are allegedly going to make my vision all better. Dav's not going to be able to get away from work Monday afternoon to watch the boys.

Unfortunately Triwest informs me that they only can do cancellations and scheduling of initial appointments for the Academy optometry clinic. Their computer does not allow them to schedule followup appointments for Optometry. After they finished the cancellation, I was transferred through to the Optometry line - and immediately got their 'we are either gone for the day or busy assisting other patients' message. Lovely. The duty day ends at 4:30, so I'll have to call again Monday.

I don't terribly mind not getting my eyes poked at again Monday. I have no expectations that the contacts will do everything promised, either. What annoys me is the amount of bother I have to go to just to rearrange my schedule, my husband's schedule, and that of whomever we enlist for childcare, all just to get fairly routine medical care. God forbid I should ever become diabetic. I don't think we could handle the disruption that frequent doctor visits or regular dialysis would cause.

On the upside, the new appointment will probably take place after May 20th, the end of the local school year. Ms. Dani, Mark's in-home occupational therapist from school, has a teenage daughter who likes to babysit and has experience with special needs kids. I'll ask her on Monday what her daughter's terms are, and see about introducing her to Mark.

Mark had his first school field trip yesterday, to Bear Creek Nature Center. I was a bit nervous about the drive out there, and there are a couple hairpin turns on the direct approach to the center - it's right in the foothills. But the trip went great. :D Mark had fun, and was reasonably well-behaved. Jack had fun getting toted around in his hiking backpack. I had fun too. ^_^ My shoulders are feeling it a bit now; not so much from muscle strain, as from the straps putting pressure on the tips of two bones right above the ball-and-socket joint, where apparently there's no meat between bone and skin.

Much to Mom's displeasure, there are no photos. I was in a hurry getting out the door, and left the camera home. In any event, it was a cloudy and sprinkly day, and I doubt the photos would have been any good.

I'll drag Dav and the Zodlings out there some weekend. :D It was beautiful, and a lot of fun. But definitely not suitable for a trip with two rambunctious kids and only one adult. ^_^;
