To heck with the caffeine wagon
Mar. 30th, 2010 11:49 amAbout a week and a half ago, I get a call from the District 11 Early Childhood Special Ed. Program, inquiring if I had sent them the paperwork for Mark that I said i was going to. I said that I had, and asked if they wanted me to send another set of copies. They said no, as the Early Childhood program was moving to new headquarters, and as of the very next day, would no longer be getting mail to their old address. They requested I hand deliver the needed forms, and gave me a new address to bring them to, at a different school.
Unfortunately, the very next day was one of the mini snowstorms CO Springs gets this time of year. And it was also the last day the office would have open before spring break. (I am exceedingly puzzled by the idea of spring break taking place the week before Palm Sunday. I seem to recall it being either Holy Week, or the last day of school being Good Friday, and then enjoying all of Easter Week off. Note, I went to public schools after first grade.)
So, since I couldn't drive there that Friday, and couldn't go when the office was closed, I planned to drive there this week.
Unfortunately, Google Maps tells me that, while there *is* a school at the address I was given, it's a completely different school than the school name I was given over the phone. There *is* a school with that name, but it's located at a completely different address. I was about to email the person with whom I've exchanged emails, asking about this discrepancy - when I discovered I don't have Mark's full IEP in the Doom Binder or any of the other folders.
I have, stapled together, three pages. Page one of eight, which describes the types of evaluations NNPS used to develop Mark's IEP. Page eight of eight, a list of everyone present at the evaluation, and their signatures. And a completely separate page, calling itself a "Notice of Intent to Initiate Deny Change Identification Evaluation or Educational Placement". In our case, it's intent to initiate educational placement.
None of this has the descriptions of what NNPS felt were Mark's educational-relevant issues or the steps we agreed on to handle them in a schoolroom environment. That's precisely what District 11 needs.
::head-desk:: The whole point of having that Doom Binder is to avoid losing stuff like this! My only hope is that
davner has the full IEP at the office, because he was going to make copies of various forms and take them to Tricare for Mark's referrals to be approved. If not, I'll have to add, in my email asking just where I'm really supposed to go, an inquiry as to whether we can fill out a form requesting NNPS send the IEP to District 11, or if we have to contact NNPS directly.
Just what I needed, on a day when Jack's being a cranky little teething Zodling.
