This swing was well worth braving the evils of Black Friday at Target and K-Mart. :D Last night I got the best night's sleep since Mark-chan came home. Granted, it wasn't intentional... He was snuffling and wakeful all yesterday from approx. 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. Took one or two naps, just long enough for me to tidy up the downstairs and vaccuum a bit, and let me eat breakfast and lunch, but that was it.

Around 11 I gave up trying to outwait him. He had huge bags under his eyes, but was snuffling and waving his arms, clearly determined to fight off the sandman at all costs. I took him upstairs to the nursery and strapped him into the swing, intending to let it rock him to sleep and then take him to his crib in the other room. I settled down on the air mattress, turned the swing on... and next thing I knew, it was 2 a.m. and he was still asleep. :D We must have fallen asleep about the same time. Better still, he stayed asleep long enough for me to sneak downstairs, grab my handpump and a bottle, and get a bottle ready by the time he was ready for a diaper change and feeding.

Put him back into the swing after he was done eating, and he fell asleep even faster. :D Got another two hours uninterrupted sleep; then I decided to try him in our room.

DIdn't sleep quite as well in our room, but at least [livejournal.com profile] davner got a good six hours of quiet sleep, and I got nearly as much. :D

Alas, this post took nearly an hour to finish, because he keeps waking up every few minutes. ^_^;; But I can cope, because I got a decent amount of sleep last night.

Yes...swings are a beautiful thing. I can't tell you how many times Aiden slept in his. =] What kind did you get?

The one in the link when you move the mouse over "This swing". It's a Fisher Price portable swing. Really cute. I was going to get a bigger Fisher Price swing that could be plugged in instead of using batteries, but neither Target nor K-Mart carried it. Not out of stock, mind you; there wasn't even a blank spot on the shelf with the little price label. I was disappointed, but I think this portable swing will work even better. We've been carrying it upstairs and downstairs as needed, and it folds up nice and small for travel.
