Crisis Averted, Folks
Apr. 30th, 2003 11:33 pmMy HR manager found people to cover for me for Monday and Tuesday. The trip can proceed as planned.
Granted, the prospect of _not_ getting to go to Omaha had me seriously upset, but my Tom will not be requiring the anti-matter shotgun this weekend. So, please, anata, relax. Take deep cleansing breaths. ^_^;;
I'm still miffed about the error.
Granted, they didn't _have_ to have granted the request back when I made it. I don't get 'real' vacation days, because I'm only a part-timer. But once they agreed to it, those days were mine. I fulfilled my responsibility in getting the days I wanted by filling out the forms on time and filing them in enough advance to satnd a decent chance of it being approved.
I realize the error occured because my manager was away for a week on her own vacation, and her replacement scrwed up.
But it was HER responsibility to see to it that her tasks were being filled by a competent person, and it was HER responsibility to make sure her replacement was fully apprised of all special issues that affected creating the work schedules.
So I'm irked about that.
But I'm not going to let it get to me. I have packing to get done, and a room to tidy up so my poor sister doesn't have to leap over piles of my stuff while I'm gone. ^_^ I have sleep to get so I can get through my crazy work schedule Friday without collapsing. I have four days of serious Davner-snuggling to accomplish. And after that I'll have job-hunting to do.
I'm going to keep both my current jobs, but only as long as it takes for me to save a decent amount, and find a new job. My loyalty to K-Mart's pretty much nil now, and while Gilles' has never screwed me over, it's not exactly the sort of job where they expect employees to stay long term.

I love you Tom Doscher!
