"It feels as though I had been steeling myself to batter down some unscalable wall. And then, when I finally took a deep breath and put my head down and charged, it just... fell, all in a heap, like that. And now I'm stumbling around in the dust and the bricks, blinking. I feel very unbalanced." - Ekaterin Vorsoisson, Komarr, by Lois McMaster Bujold.
A trifle off balance, but exhilarated. :D As
davner noted, I finally got my driver's license this morning. All that time I spent being afraid, fretting that I'd fail, not once, but repeatedly, before passing the road test - and I passed with flying colors on the first try. Only thing I missed was using the turn signal to pull into the parking slot in the DMV lot at the end of the test.
I'm still not ready to night-drive solo. But I can definitely handle the usual round of home to K-mart and back, home to Langley and back, and home to the mall and back. I even drove Dav to that auto parts store - somewhere I had never been - without a hitch. Normally I freak a bit when driving somewhere new.
In short: Go me!

Date: 2006-06-19 11:28 pm (UTC)I took my driver's test about eight years ago now, and sometimes I wonder if I took it now if I'd pass. There's so much of the technical stuff I don't remember. Oh well, not like I have anything to drive anymore anyways. :p
Happy driving.
