Apr. 22nd, 2003 12:21 pmWell, most of the family went up North earlier to go visit Dad's parents in central WI. I couldn't go because of work. Andy had to stay home because he's got college classes.
I don't regret not seeing my grandparents too much. An awfully large portion of our visits here the last couple years have been composed of flunky work for Grandpa. I don't mind helping him out; he's well over 80 and shouldn't be doing yard work. A proper grandchild _should_ help out her elderly relatives. I'd just prefer spending a bit more of the time talking, hugging, and eating cookies with him and Grandma.
The best part is not having to talk to my mother for two days. We did not part on good terms this morning. I wish we hadn't squabbled, but given that we did, and that last night we had a rather nasty fight, I'm just as glad we've got a couple days to cool off.
Yes, being home alone is a very nice thing indeed. I can surf the web for news stories to my heart's content, without anyone else wanting a turn. I never seem to get enough time for that except when I log on at ungdly hours. I can watch shows on tv that *I* like, instead of The View or soaps. Or The John Walsh Show. I can turn on 94.5 and crank up the 80's music. ^_____^ I can relax. Without being called lazy or told to get my act together. Very, very, very nice.
Having to take the bus home late tonight or try begging a ride from my manager is a small price to pay for all this. I've done it before.
