sethrakStupid Hampton Roads Transit and its lack of routes to Williamsburg. :p Stupid HRT and its wildly labyrinthine overall route structure. :p I can't even easily get about the area HRT *does* cover, because it's so contorted. Granted, part of this is because the Hampton Roads area has a labyrinthine street system, but still. :p Just by looking at the bus map I can see three or four ways they could make routes more streamlined and efficient.
I need to get cracking on obtaining my license. ::sigh:: It's not fair. I could be independant as a bird, just like I was in Milwaukee, if the bus system was better here. I could get one of the myriad jobs located in Williamsburg advertised in today's paper.
I hate driving.
Edit: Joy. I checked the bus schedules for the route that would take me to the only functional mall on this side of the bay - runs right by my house, and also runs to one of the community colleges.
How retarded is this? The bus hits each stop once an hour. ALL DAY. Even during rush hour. x_x
I could use it if I get one of those jobs I applied for at the mall and some of the surrounding big box stores, but I'd have to be careful as hell not to miss the right bus. Bastards. If ridership is down a) that's because you aren't running often enough, dillweeds! and b) can't you at least have the decency to run every half hour instead of just every hour? So your poor patrons aren't totally screwed if they run a little behind and miss the 7 am bus? Correction, the 8 am bus. The first bus of the day hits my area around 6:35. The next bus doesn't arrive til 8:05 am. WTF?! If I had to be at work at, say Circuit City, for 8 am, I'd have to take the 6:35 bus, arrive around 7, and wait an hour, probably outside in the cold/wet/ninja-infested parking lot til the manager showed up to open the door.
Morons. Assholes. Jerks.
Haven't these people heard of encouraging mass transit in the interests of conserving oil and keeping smog down?
