(Thank God I keep the house semi-clean on a daily basis. It's SO much easier to do last-minute company-prep when you're not in a state of "Important People are coming over! Ohshitshitshitshiiiiiiitttttt! Red Alert! Red Alert! Fear fire foes! Alert!". I can recall that stressful state occurring entirely too often when I was growing up - esp. on occasions like birthday parties when my parents knew people were coming over well in advance.)
