I am noticing a trend, in both the Cape Girardeau MO and Sarpy Co. NE real estate markets, in three bedroom houses in our price range, for rooms which are bright screaming eye-burning red. ::faint shudder:: In what would otherwise be pretty decent homes. Granted, I've been a renter for years, and a dependent whose parents rented for longer than that, but what kind of wierd dayglo tomato color trend did I miss? o_O

[livejournal.com profile] davner, you are hereby on notice that while I won't rule out a house on the grounds of poor paint choices by the prior occupants, we are going to stun such frightfully red rooms into submission with a repainting within six months to a year of moving in. Even if I have to ship the kid(s) off to Gramma's for a week and we do it ourselves.

So sayeth She Who Must Be Obeyed.

Ah yes, the best thing about living alone. I've put up with unattractive paint for over four years now.

Go inertia! (Wait, isn't that a contradiction?)

"Go inertia!" ::snerk:: If that's not a Tom Swiftie, it's perilously close to one.

At least I'm willing to help do the grunt work involved in removing the as-yet hypothetical unattractive paint. I refuse to be one of those wives who creates honey-do lists filled with grunt work, and then sits back with a cold beverage in a lawn chair while the husband does it all. I'll either chip in with a will, or not ask it to be done.

Mind you, if we ever need to rototill, I will delegate that to the husband and teenaged children, or a hired person if we can afford it. I'm small and light, and rototillers are big, mean, hard to handle machines.
