Mark''s two-week well-baby checkup

The well-baby appt went just fine. ^_^ Mark is now 8 lb 5 oz., a gain of a whole pound from his birth weight. More than that from the weight droppage he had the first couple days after birth. Everything else was perfectly normal and healthy. Length, head circumference, temperature, the whole nine yards.

The dr. said the odd congested noises he makes when lying on his back, as opposed to the deep healthy breaths when he's propped up in a baby seat or someone's arms, aren't anything to worry about; his little nose just hasn't got much room for mucus. I'm dubious, but since Mark's otherwise healthy, I'm just going to keep an eye on it for now.

Next appt.'s when he's two months old, unless he gets sick, heaven forbid. Then he'll start getting his shots. I'm not looking forward to that. The way he cried when he got circumcised was heart-rending enough. Multiple shots, given every few months.... Oh dear. I'll just have to give him extra cuddles afterwards.

Huh. I've not heard that before, but it makes some sense, at least...

Anyway, I'm glad Mark's doing well.

Yes, shots hurt. What they protect against hurts worse. Trust me. My mom still tells stories of the time when I got sick--and then basically went on a very bad trip thanks to the doctor over-prescribing the medication. I think she eventually cut it to a quarter of the original dosage. ^^'
