I bought the latest Fruits Basket manga this afternoon.

@_@

Expect a longish fangirly post on it and the previous two volumes, which I've read recently but not gotten around to writing about, in the near future. Fear not, I'll do a lj-cut.

Last night's SG-1 sucked as much as we expected it to. Vala: "Did you miss me?! ::beam::" How the hell could we? You were gone for all of two minutes! ::dark muttering:: And the pity party about "I was forced to be a host, and even after the Tok'ra freed me nobody back home wuved me, so please, Daniel, pretty please, have sex with me because I am so sad and will get oh so terribly offended because clearly you think I'm hideous, and we just CAN"T have that, can we?" ? Bah! Bah! Pathetic!

Atlantis sucked more than I expected. The consciousness of a female LT I never saw before somehow got stuck in the body of the delightfully obnoxious Canadian McKay. Now, normally I adore McKay - he gets some of the best lines, and when he fails to impress various women it makes me smirk - I still growl a bit at the memory of him telling Carter he found her so attractive because he "likes dumb blondes". But this episode? Excessively stupid.

Also, the new guy, the semi-feral behaving "runner" who was turned into a sort of training toy by the Wraiths..... in his introductory episode, we were shown flashbacks of his homeworld. He was a soldier, in a society advanced enough for firearms that looked semi-comparable to those used in the second half of the 20th century here on Earth. And uniforms that looked roughly equivalent to those used in developed nations on Earth. So, I felt it safe to assume his home culture was reasonably advanced.

But Lt. Colonel Sheppard apparently felt the need to acquaint him with the strange Terran custom known as "silverware".

Riiiiiight.

His culture didn't have spoons. Forks I'll concede, if somewhat grudgingly; they weren't widespread in all Earth cultures til relatively late if I remember correctly. But spoons.

Spoons.

I need a Tick icon for moments like this.
