Random thoughts on Kill Bill

Keeping in mind that I never saw Kill Bill Vol 1 in theaters, just knew a few of the character names and the general type of movie....

A few days ago I saw a massive display of the DVDs in Target. I had no idea why a blood and guts style kung fu movie had a DVD cover that, seen en masse, looked like a giant marshmallow Peep.

Then I got closer.

And I realized....

"OMFG, The Bride robbed April O'Neil's closet!!"

Later that same weekend, after Dav bought the DVD and we watched it, I decided that a) this is a fricking cool movie, and b) Lucy Liu actually has some decent acting chops. ^_^ I could never stand Ling, her character on Ally McBeal, not in a million years. And her role in the movie remake of Charlie's Angels.... Pfffttt.... But as O-Ren.... Good God damn. ^_^ Very kick ass.

Finally, I must say that thanks to the cliffhanger ending of Vol. 1, I had a brief raging urge to hunt down Mr. Tarantino and smite him repeatedly. Rawr....

Good thing Dav-chan and I plot to see Vol 2 this weekend. ^_^ V

Actually, Uma Thurman's get-up on the DVD cover and during the final third of the film is exactly what Bruce Lee wore in his final film. Put simply, nothing in "Kill Bill" is meant to be taken seriously or taken as original whatsoever. But, hey, I'll easily relent and admit that KB Vol. 1 is Tarantino's weakest film.
