Dav and I are now the proud possessors of what, in his words, is a "wicked cool" couch.

^____^

Granted, it was mostly his choice. But all the couches that set off my "wicked cool" radar were either out of our price range, or not very practical for a couple who plots ownership of a ferret or kitten long before we plan to buy another couch. And it really is a darn nifty looking couch. Mingled shades of grey, like the sky during a truly ominous thunderstorm. I call it our Xellos Couch. It just looks like something Xellos would own, for some reason. ^_^

And it kicks our old couch, the Ugly Purple Couch (tm), to the curb and back again seventeen times. ^___^ I'll have to see about posting pics somewhere, I'm that proud of how it looks.

In other news, within less than a week of Dav-chan's return he dragged my foot-dragging, highly ungrateful, and sniveling arse to a dentist to get my first fillings. Not a pleasant experience, but much less traumatic than I had feared. They matched the color really well, and it feels like the real teeth material still there. Just sounds a trifle different when I lightly tap it with my fingernail. Hasn't hurt since the novocaine wore off, either. The part I'm really nervous about is the full cleaning I'm scheduled to have in early May. I have a ton of tartar on the back of my bottom front teeth, and that's going to take ages to remove, I can tell.

But it's worth it. They look so damn much better now with the fillings that words fail me. Once the accumulated gunk from... hmmm... ten to fifteen years... of not seeing a dentist and only sporadically brushing has been cleansed away, I should look pretty damn good. I'm going to require my wisdom teeth to be removed at some point, but that can wait a little, until I get a job with dental benefits.

In other other news, my gastrointestinal system is a seditious, malcontent, ill-mannered bitch. :p I can't even chastise it with threats of Mace-chan like I would if a sibling or Dav behaved in this manner, because I can't beat myself up, dammit. Stupid cunning organs. :p

But I'm still feeling cheerful, nonetheless. I have Buffett, Credence Clearwater, Skynard, and The Last Unicorn's soundtrack on our stereo's CD changer, I have the aforementioned wicked cool couch to go sprawl on, and the weather's so nice I'm planning a walk later.

Damn, girl, you got off lucky.

When *I* went to the dentist after five years of avoidance therapy, I won the jackpot and got my first root canal.

It doesn't sound sensible, but you may find your GI problems improve somewhat once your mouth is completely knocked into shape, and you're taking care of it regularly. The state of your mouth can affect your general health in unexpected ways.

Using tartar-control toothpaste is also good. It really does work - my dentist does hardly any tartar scraping at all on me now, because it's just not there.
