Bleah.

Bleah, I say.

I've spent the last hour and a half trying to find a working IRC Java applet. (The reasons why I can't just download and install a proper IRC client are too long and annoying to go into now.)

Have I had any luck in this quest?

Hell no.

Dal.net's website, my old standby, seems to have finally crumpled up and died. Just as well #tenchiff decided to switch servers. Evidently the service attacks got so bad they destroyed the service. Bastards. Why the hell do people do denial of service attacks on a perfectly harmless and useful _free_ service?

Most of the other IRC websites I found didn't have java applets. The ones that did either caused my computer to blue-screen on me every time I tried to use it, or else... well... They'd open up the applet window, all right, and try to connect me, but it wouldn't go through. ;_; I don't know why. The error message only said 'Unable to make connection'.

I need a Shippo plushie in times like these, dammit. My inner child wants comforting. My outer adult certainly isn't getting any comofrt with annoyances like this.
